Election Rules 2009

Voting Rules and Procedures

1. Each member shall have one Vote per position, i.e. one vote for President, one Vote for Vice-President, etcetera.

2. ONLY FULL MEMBERS (i.e. with paid membership fee) shall have voting rights.

3. There shall be three routs of voting:

a) Cast Your vote on the night of the elections after talking to the candidates and hearing their presentations:

Curlers Pub at 11pm

b) For those of you who are working that night or cannot come for other reasons, we shall set up a VOTING STALL on Thursday the 26th, in

The Fraser Bulding (a.k.a. The HUB), in the canteen area ( we shall try sitting next to the first shop), from 12 to 5pm. You will be able to recognize us by a Polish Flag on the Table.

12-5pm - Fraser Building

c) Realizing that this is not a democratic solution, as it lacks the fundamental principle of ANONYMITY, we shall enable members who are away from Glasgow, or cannot participate throughout the whole day on Thursday, to vote via Email.

In order to stay true to SRC regulations, the procedure is as follows:

- Anyone wishing to vote via e-mail, needs to send us a message of intent before Thursday. One sentance will suffice. An example:

'I wish to register my vote via e mail on Thursday, the 26th of March'

- Then, all you need to do is send us a second e mail *on THURSDAY*, before 8 pm, stating your preffered candidates for each position.

Please Note: This method is open to any MEMBER, who is UNABLE to attend both the election meeting in the evening and the daily voting in the HUB, AND is willing to drop his right to anonymity in the Elections.

The Polish Society shall print out this 'vote' e mail for documentation, and add it to the 'Voting Basket'.
